Causeway Bay

Introduction

Further east of Wanchai is Causeway Bay. Causeway Bay got its name from the man-made canals that used to go all the way to the base of the mountains. Today, it is a major shopping, dining and entertainment area centered around SOGO department store and Times Square.

Victoria Park is a popular gathering place for Hong Kongers. Particularly, many demonstrations start here, such as the rally for self governance that took place on National Day in 2004 and 2005.
Happy Valley Racecourse is also nearby. It is one of the oldest race tracks in the world, having hosted weekly horse races since 1846.
